Weeping Podocarpus is a low-maintenance evergreen prized for its soft, fern-like, weeping foliage and billowy, cloud-like canopy. Perfect as a dramatic specimen tree, privacy screen, or large patio container plant. Naturally produces a deep, well-behaved taproot system rather than aggressive, surface-level lateral roots. Highly resistant to most major plant diseases. It is widely considered safe for sidewalks, driveways, and patios. 

Quick Care Guide

  • ☀️ Light: Full sun to partial shade. 
  • 💧 Water: Moderate. Water deeply when the top 2 inches of soil are dry. Drought-tolerant once mature.
  • 🌱 Soil: Well-draining, slightly acidic to neutral soil provided the area has excellent drainage. It will quickly develop root rot if forced to sit in stagnant, waterlogged water.
  • ❄️ Frost Sensitivity: It will suffer foliage damage if temperatures drop below 25°F.

  • Growth Rate: Typically grows 1 to 2 feet per year under optimal conditions, slowing down significantly once it approaches maturity or when grown in partial shade.
  • Pruning & Shaping: Extremely forgiving. It can be tightly sheared into crisp geometric shapes, limbed up into a standard clear-trunk tree, or left completely wild to emphasize its natural weeping habit.
