AKA Swamp Mallow because it grows well in moist areas with poor drainage. In zone 9, they will go dormant over the winter. Cut the bare stems back in early spring and they will catapult out of dormancy by late spring. It is best to plant behind other plants in beds so as not to draw attention during its dormant period. Plant in the ground using a Success Kit with heavy mulching and fertilize in late spring with Espoma Holly-tone.
