The Hercules Club is a larval host for the magnificent giant swallowtail butterfly (Papilio cresphontes). Known as the "toothache tree," its leaves, bark, and berries have been traditionally chewed for relief. Thriving in diverse moist habitats like hammocks, wet woods, dunes, and shell middens, this deciduous tree blooms beautifully in spring and produces fascinating fruit in fall. Roots are non-aggressive. Its striking bark, vibrant flowers, and unique foliage make it a fantastic specimen tree. Florida natives require NO fertilizer, less water, and promotes biodiversity of our natural heritage!
